2011 was another banner year for Green Mountain Control Systems. Projects for this year included:
Starlifts, Sunapee, NH - PLC program upgrades on conveyer lifts at Seven Springs Resort in Western PA and Wisp Mountain Resort in McHenry, MD.
Sugarloaf USA, Carrabassett, ME - Complete control system retrofit on a 2005 Kaser Ski Carpet conveyer lift. This upgrade included a new Allen-Bradley Micrologix 1000 PLC, Automation Direct C-more Micro-Graphic operator interface, and a new encoder for belt slip and overspeed protection. This project was completed in record time during the ski season as the existing system failed during operation.
Skytrans Manufacturing, Contoocook, NH - Fabrication of a customer designed control panel and operator consoles for a newly installed sky ride at the Kansas City Zoo.
Arrowhead Recreation Area, Claremont, NH - Installation of a customer supplied, Baldor variable frequency drive for their Joy handle tow lift.
Skytrans Manufacturing, Contoocook, NH - Fabrication of a customer designed control panel and operator consoles for a newly installed sky ride at the Mongomery, AL, Zoo.
Nashoba Valley Ski Area, Westford, MA - Installation of a refurbished 50 HP Eurotherm digital regenerative DC drive on a 1970's vintage Carlovaro Savio double chairlift.
Royal Mountain Ski Area, Caroga Lake, NY - Installation of a refurbished 40 HP Eurotherm digital regenerative DC drive a 1982 Borvig double chairlift. This project makes all of Royal Mountain's lift drives digitally controlled.
Nashoba Valley Ski Area, Westford, MA - Installation of a refurbished 60 HP Eurotherm digital regenerative DC drive on a 1978 Thiokol triple chairlift. We also relocated a Fincor 3160 digital drive to a 1986 Borvig triple chairlift. This makes Nashoba Valley's chairlifts 100% digitally controlled as well.
Green Mountain Valley School, Waitsfield, VT - Fabrication and installation of a new GMCS T-bar control system and 60 HP ABB DCS800 DC drive system. This system was installed on a newly installed, used Doppelmayr T-bar at Sugarbush Resort. The control system is specially designed to meet Vermont's stringent "supervised" tower fault detection requirements.
Mount Southington, Southington, CT - Electrical installation of new Partek drive terminal on the Avalanche Double. This is the same Hall chairlift that we installed a FGR control system on last summer. This installation also included interfacing with a new 100 HP Parker SSD 590+ DC drive.
Gore Mountain Ski Center, North Creek, NY - Installation of a retrofit drive error detector on the Hudson Triple, a 2010 Partek chairlift.
Mount Snow Resort, West Dover, VT - Fabrication and installation of GMCS FGR control system and a 400 HP ABB DCS800, regenerative, DC drive on a 1982 Yan triple chairlift. This lift was also designed to meet the Vermont supervised tower requirement. This project was particularly challenging as it is top drive lift, in a remote location on the mountain.
Sawmill Ski Area, Morris, PA - Electrical installation of relocated 1982 Borvig triple chairlift in cunjunction with Ropeway Construction and Service Company. To bring this lift up to current ANSI B77.1 standards, GMCS installed a drive error detector as well as an electrically deployed bullwheel brake system. We also fabricated new operator consoles for this installation.
Toggenburg Mountain, Fabius, NY - Electrical installation of relocated Hall double chairlift in cunjunction with Ropeway Construction. This lift came with a 2008 Doppelmayr CTEC control system and a 100 HP Eurotherm 690+ AC variable frequency drive which we reused.
Song Mountain Resort, Tully, NY - Installation of a retrofit drive error detector on a relocated Doppelmayr double chairlift. This very nice lift installation was completed by the area owner and All Ski Lifts of Watertown, NY. The drive error detector was all that was needed to bring this early 1980's chairlift up to current ANSI requirements.
Blackwater Ski Area at Proctor Academy, Andover, NH - Installation of a used GMCS T-bar control system on their Hall T-bar. This system was originally installed on Mount Pisgah's Roebling T-bar in Saranac Lake, NY in 2009. When Mount Pisgah purchased a new Doppelmayr surface lift, GMCS bought their system back.Top of page
Royal Mountain, Caroga Lake, NY - Installation of a new 125 HP, SSD 590+ digital regenerative DC drive on a 1982 Borvig double chairlift.
Shawnee Mountain, Shawnee-on-Delaware, PA - Fabrication and installation a new GMCS-FGR control panel on a 1986 Borvig double chair. This control system was interfaced with the existing Eurotherm 590+ DC drive. We also wired a new motor room for this lift in conjunction with Ski Lift Parts and Ropeway Construction.
Berkshire East, Charlemont, MA - Installation of a new 250 HP, SSD 590+ digital regenerative DC drive on the Poma triple chairlift we wired in 2009. This project was in conjunction with Tom Bates of New Hampshire Electric Motors.
Mount Southington, Southington, CT - Fabrication and installation a new GMCS-FGR control system and 25 pair comline on a 1972 Hall double chairlift. This system was interfaced with the existing across-the-line starter and fluid coupling. It is however, configured to accomodate variable speed drive in the future.
Mohawk Mountain, Cornwall, CT - Designed and wired the motor room interface for a newly installed, 1982 Poma triple chairlift. Assisted with the installation of a new control system and ABB DCS 800 DC drive provided by Tulimeri Associates of Manchester, CT.
Shawnee Mountain, Shawnee-on-Delaware, PA - Wired a relocated 1992 Partek quad chairlift in conjunction with Ropeway Construction. This project included the installation of a new comline and a GMCS designed drive error detector to bring the lift up to ANSI B.77-2006 code requirements.
Royal Mountain, Caroga Lake, NY - Installation of a used, Crowder JR control system on a 1982 Borvig double chair lift. This system had been aquired by the customer with another used lift. It replaced a locally built control that had not lived up to the customer's expectations.
Nashoba Valley, Westford, MA - Installation of automatic rollback detection and electric bullwheel brake deployment on all 4 of their chairlifts. GMCS also installed 24VDC bullwheel brake pump systems from Ski Lift Parts on two Thiokol triple chair lifts.
Mohawk Mountain, Cornwall, CT - Fabrication and installation of a new GMCS-FGR on a refurbished Partek triple chairlift. We reused an ABB ACS600 variable frequency drive that the customer had from a removed lift.
Mount Pisgah, Saranac Lake, NY - Installation of a new direct burial comline, GMCS designed control panel and operator stations on a 1950's Roebling T-bar.
Mount Southington Ski Area, Southington, CT - Complete electrical installation of a refurbished Partek triple chair with a 100 HP Parker SSD DC drive and control system.
Northeast Slopes, East Corinth, VT - Completion of this new installation of a 1965 Hall T-bar. This included: a GMCS FGR control system; a 60 HP Saftronics soft starter; a 12 pair aerial comline and operator stations.
The Balsams Wilderness, Dixville Notch, NH - Upgrade of two Parker SSD control systems for more acurate tower fault indication.
Ski Big Bear at Masthope, Lackawaxen, PA - Complete electrical installation of two refurbished Partek double chairs with 125 HP Parker SSD DC drives and control systems.
Campgaw Ski Area, Campgaw, NJ - Fabrication and installation of a Skytrans-MFG designed control system and a 50 HP SSD Variable Frequency Drive on a 1969 Hall double chair.
Berkshire East, Charlemont, MA - Complete electrical installation of a relocated 1982 Poma Triple chair. This included: a new 25 pair comline; all tower wiring; rewiring the entire motor room; installation of a new 600 amp service; new operator stations and the design and fabrication of a new 16 zone tower fault indication system.
Franklin Veterans Memorial Ski Area, Franklin, NH - Design, fabrication and installation of a new control system and operator stations on a 1950's OD Hopkins T-bar. This project was in conjunction with Skytrans-MFG.
Ascutney Mountain Resort, Brownsville, VT - Training and service work on their Garaventa CTEC Stealth detachable quad.
Dartmouth Skiway, Lyme, NH - Summer electrical maintenance program on lifts and snowmaking pump starters.
Skytrans Mfg., LLC, Contoocook, NH - Built and debugged customer-designed control panel, drive cabinet and 3 operator panels for a new skyride installation.
Big Squaw Mountain, Greenville, ME - Installed a new 6000' long, 50 pair comline on a 1967 Stadeli double chair. Designed and built a 27 tower fault detection system and new 24 VDC control system. In the summer of 2009, we will be installing a new 250 HP SSD DC drive and motor as well as wiring in all safety and operator stops and controls.
Big Squaw Mountain - Reconfigured comline wiring on a 1986 Borvig triple chair for tower fault indication system.
Ropeway Construction and Service, Pine Island, NY - Assisted with the installation of new comlines and tied in to the existing control systems on 4 chairlifts at Tuxedo Ridge.
The Hideout Ski Area, Lake Ariel, PA - Installed a new SSD drive and control system on a rebuilt Partek double chair.
Berkshire East, Charlemont, MA - Retro-fitted a new SSD drive and control system to a 1987 Poma triple chair.
Northeast Slopes, East Corinth, VT - Designed and built a new 24 VDC control system.
